Greater Olean Area Home Show

More experts, more vendors, and a few new attractions
If this winter’s freezing temperatures have kept you a prisoner in your own home, then chances are, you’ve had ample time to observe the areas you’d like to upgrade once spring arrives. Fortunately, the Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the perfect event to help homeowners and potential homeowners begin the process of remodeling, repairing, and decorating their dwelling … welcome to the Greater Olean Home Show. This three-day event is taking place at the William O. Smith Recreation Center located at 551 East State Street in Olean, NY April 17-19.
Now in its 44th year, the Greater Olean Home Show is offering many different kinds of vendors who have exhibited their goods and services for several years, as well as some newcomers to the show. Attendees can look forward to a variety of area business that specialize in home upgrades including bathroom remodeling, contracting services, garage doors and openers, home décor, water treatment, window installation, and more.  Dr. Green Lawn/Custom Turf of Salamanca, NY will be returning to the show again to offer visitors their services in weed control, lawn sodding, and lawn renovation. Another area favorite, Cutco Ka-Bar of Olean will present a selection of their famous household cutlery, which complements every kitchen. Culligan Water of Bradford, PA will return to the home show to offer attendees options in water treatment systems, including water softeners and water filtration systems.
Nancy Morgan, GOACC Membership Coordinator, encourages attendees to visit the new vendors for 2015, which include home-based businesses that many female attendees are likely to enjoy. For example, Thirty-One Gifts will show attendees just how easy and attractive home-organization can be through their line of decorative totes, bins, bags, and purses. The skincare company Rodan & Fields will exhibit their sun protection products and skincare products for acne-prone and sensitive skin. Mobu Herbals of Olean will also be present with their wide selection of herbal remedies for everything from back pain to weight loss.
According to Meme Yanetsko, Chief Operating Officer of GOACC, the home show committee has added themes to the event so visitors have something different to look forward to each day. On Friday, the home show committee has planned a Friday Night Wine Walk, where six vendors will host a winery/craft beer business that will serve their beverages to participants of the walk as they peruse the different booths. Still a work in progress, Saturday’s theme is the Handyman Contest Day, where local handymen and women will put their skills to the test through a variety of household repair challenges, vying for the title of best handyman/woman as well as a cash prize! Sunday’s theme is the Every 30 Minutes: Raffles Day, when gift certificates donated by the show’s vendors will be given away to home show attendees.
No matter how simple or grand your plans for home renovation are, the Greater Olean Home Show is an excellent starting point. According to Yanetsko, “The Home Show is a unique marketplace to shop, compare and save on a total selection of home-related products and services for building, remodeling, gardening and decorating.  The show gives you more experts, vendors, and companies in one place at one time than any other opportunity in our area.”
Indeed, even those planning to purchase a new home will be pleased to find lots of information and expert advice from ERA Team VP Real Estate, and those interested in building can take advantage of the services provided by Owl Homes Group of Allegany. From contracting services to decorative candles, the Greater Olean Home Show is a great opportunity to research various home improvement projects and shop for services all under one roof.
Admission to the show is $3 for adults and $2 for students and seniors. For more information about the Greater Olean Home Show, call the Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce at 716-372-4433 or email member@oleanny.com.
