Bring out the Bikes ... in Winter?

Harley-Day Valley 2016 at Holiday Valley Resort

Usually, when I write these articles, I’ll lead in with my past experience with the event, or try to somehow relate it back to myself. It’s a system that’s worked well so far (I hope). However, I’ll level with you. I know diddly squat about bikes, and I think you’d see through me if I tried to tell you otherwise. On the other hand, skiing is something I know a good deal about and that aspect alone is enough to sell me on this event. So without further ado, here are the hard-hitting facts about Harley-Day Valley 2016.

Once again, Gowanda Harley-Davidson is taking over Holiday Valley Resort in Ellicottville, NY on Saturday, Jan. 23.  Harley-Day Valley is a one-day event that is fully dedicated to learning how to ski, how to ride, and just getting out of the house for the biggest cabin fever party of the season.

Delaney Peters, Marketing Manager at Gowanda Harley-Davidson, says after the past three years, not returning to Holiday Valley would be a letdown.  “Last year we asked ourselves, ‘Is it worth loading up these bikes, hauling them over in the winter, and having a great party?’ … and then we realized we just answered our own question!”

The main lodge at Holiday Valley is a great place to stage an event like this. You can’t beat the facilities, accessibility, and the view is amazing. If you have ever been to Holiday Valley, you are well aware of that electric happy feeling that flows through the air. Skiers and snowboarders embrace the freedom of gliding down the slopes – it’s a way for many to recharge the batteries of their soul.  The same can be said for riders on the open road.  So bringing together snowsports and motorsports at Holiday Valley with Gowanda Harley Davidson is a ‘no brainer’.

Peters goes on to share that even if you’re not into skiing or motorcycles, you’ll still want to check out this event. “This is all about fun and getting together with new and old friends. Each year we wonder what the interest and turnout will be, and every year, it is more than the Food & Beverage staff anticipates; every year the second bar is opened to assure that the fun doesn’t stop.  Biker or not, you’ll want to come out for this day. But, if you do happen to love bikes, American Pickers, or classic American Motor History, you’ll want to come check out the museum pieces that Gowanda Harley-Davidson has on display throughout Holiday Valley Lodges and Hotels. And you can see new models on display like the all new ‘Street’ made popular by the Avenger and Captain America Movies.

Gowanda Harley-Davidson will feature their Jumpstart™ motorcycle simulator, where you can take an actual Harley for a stationary ride with no experience required. “We take a real Harley, place it on the Jumpstart, and while overlooking the slopes of Holiday Valley from the 2nd floor heated deck of the Lodge, you can take our Harley for a ride, for free,” described Shawn Mowery, Service Manager at Gowanda Harley-Davidson.  “We’ll even teach you how to start, run through the gears, and get on and off a world-famous Harley-Davidson motorcycle.”

Holiday Valley and Gowanda Harley-Davidson are also teaming up to throw a big Miller Lite Party during the event from 3pm-7pm inside the Holiday Valley Lodge on the 2nd floor.  There’s live music with The Bleeding Hearts, lots of Harley brand giveaways, Miller prizes, Holiday Valley prizes and more. Plus, Gowanda Harley-Davidson is bringing back the popular, custom Harley-Day Valley event t-shirts.  Saturday also features a live radio broadcast from 96 Kix Country along with their “Money Machine”. Guests can enter for a chance to grab cash, discounts, coupons and more.

Holiday Valley will be on-hand offering information on learn-to-ski packages and introductions to skiing or boarding. Motorcycle Safety School will also have a representative on-site explaining the learn-to-ride programs they have to offer and the benefits of a rider instructor course. Gowanda Harley-Davidson will even have their street team on the slopes passing out prizes for randomly-selected winners who are skiing and snowboarding.

Harley-Day Valley 2016 will run from 10am-7pm on Saturday, Jan. 23. You can learn more by visiting the event page at Facebook.com/GowandaHD, or logging onto GowandaHarley.com.
