MARDI GRAS PARADE, DOWNTOWN ELLICOTTVILLE

Saturday, March 12 @ 6pm

Venture downtown Saturday evening and watch Ellicottville’s Mardi Gras Parade.  Last year the participants went above and beyond with their costumes – it is always a sight to see!  Better yet, join in the fun and march too!  Everyone is invited to take part, and it’s FREE!  For a parade application, go to ellicottvilleny.com or contact the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce at 716-699-5046.   NEW THIS YEAR: Ellicottville Brewing Company will be the location for the Junior Bacchus Ball the evening prior to the parade (Friday, March 11), when candidates vying for Mardi Gras King & Queen will give a speech on why they qualify for Mardi Gras Royalty, with coronation to follow.  There will be music, food and a cash bar; dress is ski casual.  Tickets for the Bacchus Ball (to be held from 7-9pm) are $20 and are very limited, so purchase yours before they’re gone!  Contact the Chamber for more details.

HOLIDAY VALLEY POND SKIMMING

Saturday, March 19 @ 1pm

Sign up to skim across an ice water-filled, manmade trench at the bottom of Yodeler on your skis or snowboard, or just come out to watch – it’s a guaranteed good time!  Not everyone makes it across, but everyone’s attempts are hilarious – especially those who dress up for it!  Registration for the pond skimming will take place the day of, starting at 11am outside Yodeler Lodge.  Cost is $5; kids under 18 must have a parent signature; minimum age is 8 years old.  Some fun prizes will be awarded in various categories including Best Skimmer, Best Costume, Best Kid and Best Splash.  All participants will receive a one-day pool pass for the Holiday Valley summer pool complex.  Music, mini-snowbar with margaritas and beer specials, BBQ … it’s a great way to enjoy the coming of Spring!

Make a little extra room for these other spring events, including the Northwind Super G at Holiday Valley March 20, and the Happy Half Marathon, 5K and Beer Mile race on May 7 ...
