Winter is in full swing here in Ellicottville. If you have yet to make the trek to HoliMont, plan a day (or two) during the week to come out and enjoy prime skiing surfaces, no lift lines, and comfy lounge areas inside and outside the main chalet. HoliMont is open to the public Monday through Friday; no reservation or membership required! Pack a lunch or purchase from the cafeteria, which offers delicious food options by Dina’s at The Mont. When those ski legs get a little tired, kick back around the outside fire pit.
HOLIMONT SNOWBOARDERS IN STEAMBOAT: HoliMont snowboarders Megan Farrell (1st), Kaylie Buck (3rd), and Jen Hawkrigg (4th) completed a near sweep of the podium at the latest NorAm held in Steamboat Springs, Colorado in January. The three riders have been ripping it up on the NorAm circuit with Farrell winning the last four races, Buck with 3 bronze and Hawkrigg coming on strong with a silver and a 4th place at Steamboat. Farrell is off to world cups in Slovenia, Bulgaria and Korea. The next NorAm is right next door at Holiday Valley on Feb 9/10.
HOLIMONT SLOPE REPORT: HoliMont has a new and improved slope report feature on their website. The Slope Report is posted everyday before the lifts turn. Visit our site and bookmark the link for fast access to current conditions, trail openings and closings as well as first-hand comments on what to expect on the slopes every day.
SLOPESIDE MOUNTAIN SHOP: The retail shop at HoliMont is downsizing inventory and has all outerwear marked down 25% or more. The shop is going through some restructuring and we are trimming down the product lines. This means great deals on all the gear you need, want or forgot. There are smoking deals on outerwear from Burton, HH and more. Check us out on social media and keep an eye out for random flash sales that offer freebies and discounts if you act now.
WIN A PAIR OF VICE BINDINGS: HoliMont will host a Free Heel Fling on March 3rd. This is an informal get-together for skiers interested in Telemark skiing. Free coaching will be available for those looking to brush up their skills or first-timers looking to learn something new. Event lift tickets are $49 and can be purchased the day of or in advance from the HoliMont website. Every registered skier has a chance to win a pair of 2016-17 Vice Bindings from 22 Designs and Slopeside Snowsports at HoliMont!
LASTING MEMORIES: There is still time to take advantage of the best deal on membership ever. Ask your favorite HoliMont member about how you can save on a family, single or junior membership today. HoliMont is the largest private ski club in North America and has been creating lifelong memories and friendships since 1962. For more information call the main office at 716-699-2320.
SAFETY FIRST AT HOLIMONT: We don’t ever hope to have to evacuate a chairlift, but being prepared is the key to success. HoliMont prides itself on safety and recently staged a lift evacuation practice with ski patrol and HoliMont area control. The drill is made as real as possible with radio alerts, guest communication and real lift evacuations using volunteers and employees. Rest assured that if you ever had to, the staff at the ‘Mont can get you down quickly and safely.
THE KEY TO SUCCESS: There is no question that you have to have a quality product even if Mother Nature doesn’t cooperate. HoliMont has been making loads of quality snow for years. In fact, some of the crew at HoliMont were responsible for the initial design of the Pole Cat snow gun that you see widely used in most ski areas. Over the years HoliMont has invested in snowmaking. We can make snow on 100% of our slopes and have the ability to pile it up during short windows of optimal temps and conditions. All this means that while it may be green in your backyard, ours is blanketed in snow.
