Articles in "downtown ellicottville"

Ellicottville is known for its slopes and winter sports, but there are a lot of family-friendly events that don’t involve strapping on skis or a board. In addition to all the wonderful shops and restaurants, these events offer entertainment in the cold winter months.
Ok, so you’ve made the trek here from all parts near and far - the GTA, Buffalo area, Ohio and Pennsylvania.  So now that you’ve settled in one of our many hotels, condos or bed & breakfasts, one question remains: what the heck are we going to do now?!  Rest assured, there is something for everyone in this awesome little village, so let’s dip our toes in the water and find you a ‘to-do list’ during your stay.
Mardi Gras is one of Ellicottville’s craziest times of the year, and for this year’s parade downtown, there’s a special tribute fit for a king.
The village of Ellicottville is fortunate to have multiple ski andsnowboard specialty shops, each with a distinct cast of characters and specialists to get you dialed in to hit the slopes.  This month, we caught up with Tim Cummiskey, a long-time veteran of the ski business (41 years to be exact!) who has held it down as the man to see for some of the best bootfitting around at The City Garage (5 Monroe Street) for the last ten years.
“They’re an institution in Ellicottville,” remarked Jane Eshbaugh, Marketing Director at Holiday Valley.  “They play great songs that everyone knows and for all ages.  They’ll play just about anything you want.”
The holidays might be over, but if you’re still feeling stressed or exhausted and need a little relaxation, there’s an oasis waiting just for you in downtown Ellicottville.
Looking at the outside of The Red Door Ski Shop in Ellicottville, it may seem pretty buttoned up and well mannered, however, their roots come from a story connected to a little rebellion.   Hard to believe, I know … but it’s true!
Chip the ice and snow off your dancing shoes, and get ready to rock n' roll your winter blues away at Madigan's this month, 'cause Buffalo's best is comin' to town!
With her bubbly personality, bright smile and kind heart, Katy Herbach transformed the former Cooling’s Café into Katy’s Café and Cake Creations. It’s now known to many as a fresh, local hot spot and comfort zone for area residents and travelers.
Worried about the hustle and bustle of the village center? No need! The Ilex Inn Bed & Breakfast is located far enough to provide shelter from the noise, but close enough to enjoy a walk into town.

Alright. Enough is enough. We've spent our last day at the pool, shanked our last golf ball, and retired our mountain bikes to the basements. It's time to embrace the quickly approaching winter and buckle up for what is sure to be a killer season. For those of us who live for windchill and lake effect squalls, nothing quite fosters the stoke of a season full of whiteouts like premiere season.

If listening to the nation’s top hits on the radio just isn’t enough, get ready to say hello to a band that’s bringing those favorites to you live at Madigan’s on Dec. 21. Goodbye Dawn, one of the area’s newest cover bands, has one mission, and it’s to rock. The group’s musicians include Joe Thompson on vocals and guitar, drummer Mike Franklin, bassist Brett Maybee, lead guitarist Alex Coustenis, and vocalist Rebekah Zariczny, who also plays the keyboard.

Known as the community’s hometown pizza and sub shop for the past 26 years, Hoagie’s is taking specialty pizza to the next level this winter. The café continues to stand true to its core, using only the freshest ingredients, cooking with homemade recipes and offering excellent customer service. Their convenient location, right smack dab in the middle of the action at 24 Monroe Street, makes for an easy pit stop for a slice or pick-up for a takeout order.

A weekend in the winter wonderland of Ellicottville leaves most with memories to last a lifetime. Are you on the quest to find your EVL sticker, hoodie or shot glass before you hit the road? At their new 28 Washington Street location, A Touch of Ellicottville brings a fresh array of Ellicottville-inspired gifts and high-quality keepsakes to life.

In its 7th year of business, Ellicottville’s Wingate By Wyndham Hotel continues to provide visitors with charm and class. Located conveniently in downtown Ellicottville, the Ellicott Development Hospitality branch opened the location in 2005. The hotel is within walking distance of village shops, restaurants and nightlife, and is equidistant from both ski resorts.

The weather might be chilly, and the fire might be comfy, but winter is no time to stay indoors, especially in Ellicottville.
